I've seen lots of different book necklaces around, here is my version.  I found an old half destroyed copy of Shelley's Poetical works in an auction box that has the best tiny little writing in it which works perfectly for a tiny little necklace Smiley

First I made a little "book" by cutting sections of prose to measure about 1 1/4", glued them at the top with some gel medium (held by a bull nose clip till dry).  On the first one I singed the edges with a lighter, the second one has an inked edge.  Personally I like the singed edge better but its a little tricky to do without torching the whole book Cheesy

The binding is made from thin copper sheeting that I folded the ends into the inside middle, distressed with some liver of sulphur and sandpaper.  The bail is a piece of copper strapping, cut to size with the ends filed/sanded well and also distressed with liver of sulphur/sandpaper.  The final pieces are put together with my friend E600.

The old pages are quite fragile so I also sealed the front of both sides with some matte gel medium which helps a bit.

They are quite magical. I think I agree with you, the singed front just has the edge over the inked edge.
