This is a felt hamburger shop I made for my kindergarten class. It actually took a lot longer than I anticipated, and since I have over 40 students who would be using this weekly, I decided not to spend too much time accenting the lettuce/pickles/tomatoes with thread to make them more realistic, as I've already had some two year-olds try and eat the hamburger buns....  Tongue

I made the hamburger meat from cork board that was spray-painted, and all of the dressings from felt. The hamburger buns were made flat on the bottom by using discs cut from pizza box tops and the rest of the materials I found at a dollar store near my house. The ketchup and mustard are filled with tissue paper and the "grill" is removable, so that I can alter the shop to be a different store front if I wish (a flower stand, cake shop, etc).

I'm not really happy with the store box itself though~ I should probably find wood next time and just nail it together, as it would be more durable, but first I need to find a supply store!

I love that idea, the cork hamburgers are genius.

I also love that your play area has a realistic idea of pricing lol!
I know that will seem odd, but my daughter's class had an ice cream van parlous thing where they could go play at making, selling and buying ice creams. great except that a double scoop in a cone with a chocolate stick was priced at 30p when in reality it'd be more like 2 or 3....

Thank you all sooo much ^__^ I like the idea of an ice cream shop here. mrsflibble- I had the same problem actually. The only play money my school has comes in denominations of $10, $50 and $100 equivalents, so I told the kids to just treat them like $1 bills, even though Japan only uses coins for 1's and 5's XD
