I bought a lovely big jar of Gesso today. It's sitting on my craft table taunting me. I'm hoping to get some crafting time later this week to jump on my main craft for SheepBlue. I'm having fun brainstorming some little extras Cheesy Wonder when the next flea market weekend is out here ....

When I was in art school we had this speaker come in who used Gesso in his work. He would coat one side of an object with Gesso. Let it dry. Coat the other side with Gesso. He would do this 100's, 1000's of times until you couldn't tell that the original object was a chair or a head of lettuce or whatever. He told us that he had a set of cassettes with music on them (I'm totally dating myself here), each numbered, that he would listen to in sequential order whenever he worked. The same 10 (or so) cassettes over and over again, while he painted these objects over and over again in gesso. Apparently he's also kept records of exactly how many layers of paint are on each object with pages of checkmarks. I thought he was a nut and giggled like mad when I saw his work in our national gallery  Wink Here's more info on Eric Cameron

I've gotten some supplies, but must put off the actual crafting for just a bit until I get another package out the door.

After reading what gesso is, I now need it.  ^_^

AND YEAH, THAT WAS AN HOUR AGO.....for the past hour Ive been looking at Eric Cameron and Gesso stuff...i think I'm going to have to give it a try... pretty cool stuff
