Are you ready for this one? .....
I built this cannon for no other reason than that I am a big Civil War buff and had visited almost every major battlefield there is. This is a replica of the 1857 Bronze Napoleon 12 pdr. This cannon was used extensively throughout the Civil War and of course it fired a 12 lb cannon ball.
For your information - the barrel is 6 ft long and each wheel weighs 95 lbs a piece.

Thank you T! I wish my husband and kids saw it that way ... they thought I was ... um ... eccentric? But my dog loved it!!

Whoa!! This is incredible! I think it's so neat that you used the original blue prints - or were at least somewhat inspired by them Smiley. Great job on this. Awesome awesome awesome!

That's great!  I have shot a cannon before and it's so cool that you built one on your own.

Linnybelle,
I have been on many a field when cannons were being fired - Civil War Reenactments  - and you could literally feel the ground tremble under your feet when those old iron soldiers went off. What a blast!
