This is INCREDIBLE! How do you needle felt such a perfectly cylindrical shape? I've tried before, and I gave up and decided that was mostly reserved for wet-felting.

Thanks so much!!!  And thanks for the heads up about Mr X Stitch - I totally would have missed that and it was quite a pleasant surprise to see this piece written up!!

I still haven't finished getting the class related to these tapered rope foundations completed Sad My husband was in the hospital all this last week and we've also been dealing with heating issues. Hubby came home yesterday evening so now if I can just get some heat - I can get back to work!!

To get any consistant shape - cylinder, cone, cube - whatever, it's mostly a matter of working evenly. I have done some wet felting, but there seems to be less control of the fiber. I wet felted a rope for a necklace once and just didn't like the way it looked or draped. With needle felting I feel totally in control of the shape.

Thank you!!! I've been doing some more tapered rope necklaces - they're very interesting to do and and good friend send me a treasure trove of beads to use!  Cheesy

Its such lovely work I've come back to show my husband and he said it is pretty cool Cheesy It sort of reminds me of Avitar for some reason.... I LOVE it! If I had a necklace like that I would find reasons just to wear it ALL the time! LOL

I will be the 21st or 22nd person - to say how beautiful this is!
The shape would fit me perfectly! I have a tracheotomy scar at the base of my neck so I'm always on the lookout for a necklace to cover it.
BINGO - this is it!

(I am not a fan of asymmetrical - but I am willing to forget that little foible.)

Unfortunately I only know of one person who needle felts - but that makes it an opportunity for me to learn, right?

Thank you for showing this to the (craftster) world.
