Stats
Started Life As:
A Size M Men's T-shirt (from Jeans West, I'm pretty sure)
Is Now:

It doesn't fit me terribly well any more, since I made it when I was bigger. I still love it and think it's one of the best things I've made.

Tutorial / Pattern Used:
"Surplice / Cross-Over Bust Tank Top Tutorial" from What The Craft

What I Learned:
 - I've shrunk since making this, yaaay
 - Sometimes, cotton garments need ironing. This is one of those cases
 - How to make straps and use them to finish off armholes

I have a very similar early reconstruction, but I had the opposite issue - I got to big for it, not to little.

I love your posts: makes me all nostalgic and want to go look at all my old stuff again.

Craftster exists to help those of us addicted to thrift/goodwill/op stores justify our addiction.

Okay for some reason those instructios aren't making sense to me. Just what measurements go where and how is the shape of the bodice done?

<schnip>
I got too little on purpose. I'm glad you like my posts, too. Grin

I gathered that pretty early on.  Grin

Oh gosh, you'll have to bear with me - I made this over three years ago.

From what I remember, I measured from underbust to hip to get the bodice length and I gave it that "hourglass" shape by putting my waist measurement in the middle of the bodice and drawing a curve based on that measurement being the highest point in the curve.

Here's a diagram:

Don't forget to add seam allowance, of course.
