It works just like a regular swap except that you privately ask someone to be your swap partner...hopefully, they have time and will say yes!  Then you agree on what you want to swap, let the organizer know and then you make stuff!  Read the blurbs on the past IYP swaps for more info...

Hey, guys--just wanted to post that thanks to your encouragement and support, I finished my Dr. Who scarf!!!!!  I need to weave in a million ends before I post pics, but the knitting is finally done!

I don't think I've seen the Van Gogh masterpiece in knit form before and from the clues in her questionnaire I had to give it a try...super hard to give up, though.

I used the spiral staircase shawl pattern (free) on ravelry by LizAnn Petch http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/spiral-staircase-shawl
Worsted weight Vanna's Choice Lion Brand yarn, size 8 needles, and not as many repeats to achieve the size. Doing that substitution really made the knitting go fast!

After that base scarf was done I winged it...
For the flames, knitted 2 strands (yellow and orange) of fingering weight in various lengths of i-cord.
The TARDIS was done with a grey/blue varigated koigu along with a fuzzy lightweight yarn and just "eyed" the sizes for the exploded parts.
The white for the TARDIS was white embroidery thread (all 6 strands) duplicate stitched.

To attach, I used basic blue sewing machine thread and tacked it on as best I could.
It was fun to do and I must admit, I'm a bit proud of it.

It is fantastic!  I love how you did the spirals all over the shawl!  The color is right on...thanks for the link...and also, I think I am going to use your duplicate stitch idea for my Tardis Hat windows...I totally cannot follow my own chart and started getting such wonky windows...

Great Whocrafts! My spouse and I are loving the reinvigorated series, though I do miss K9 from the episodes of my youth! We've made all sorts of things, so I'll get some pix to post up to show off. We have a cabinet full of our various Dr Who crafts by us and traded.

I recently completed a tea wallet with the Dalek serving tea from the Churchill episode where the Daleks had forgotten they hated humans. I'm planning to make more of them, for sure!
