I have never organized anything like this, I imagine it would be an ongoing swap. There is a similar swap going on on ravelry, but I am more comfortable here on craftster. Basically we could swap for 15yd skeins of sock weight yarn OR premade hexi-puffs depending on wants and needs.

interest?

This is a lovely idea. I've been eyeing these beekeeper's quilts for a while!! I don't spin though, so what else do you think we could swap besides yarn?

it wouldn't need to be handspun, just scraps in the weight and length needed for one puff (~15 yds) AND/OR pre-knit puffs

Is there a free pattern for the puffs? I wouldn't mind swapping some for yarn or other puffs. I have loads of time on my hands lately.

no, it is a paid pattern. I have a hard time paying for patterns often times, because you never know what you are going to get, but this lady is SERIOUSLY talented, so it wasn't long before I caved and bought it.

LOL
me too!
but this might be the next best thing -- you could send off yarn to your
partner and get some puffs in return  Smiley

I like the idea, if there are enough puff-makers out there?
(I have the pattern, just have not sat down with it long enough to figure it out,
so I'd be one to offer sock yarn minis for puffs)

errgghh  I just realized I might be mixed up on these rules -- LxM?
am I way off-base here?

nope kayrun.
I think any sort of puff-related swap would be fair game. I can make a puff in about 25-28 minutes, so if I was kept stocked with yarn I would be tickled pink.

are you considering just the knitted version or will it include the crocheted version as well? I found a free crocheted version on ravelry called "Apiary Puff" that was inspired by the Beekeepers Quilt. They  each use 24 yards of fingering/sock weight yarn and measure approximately 3 inches at the widest point.

I've been wanting to try them, but not sure if I will stuff them.

I think a mini-skein swap would be a great idea. I am not big in knitting socks, so I don't have too many different sock-yarn-leftovers and most of my hexipuff are kinda the same colours, not that much variation really.

I'd rather swap sekins. If it was a finished puff swap I'd be worried that my gauge is a bit off from swap-partners and people might be different in if they stuff them and how much they stuff them with and so on. And postage would be cheaper as well.

How about having more than one swap partners? Maybe 3-5 miniskeins to 3-5 partners?
