So I've decided to tackle making my own prom dress because I find so many dresses out there just ugly and gross and bleh! I started googling my heart away and found the most amazing, and complicated to make, dress ever. Mila Kunis's dress from the Oscars. Pure beauty! But does anyone have any idea how to start this dress? It looks like the lace dress and then the chiffon or whatever draped over it. Any ideas or patterns or ANYTHING?

well you would need to start w. a simple nude colored base if a short sweetheart neckline then lay it flat overlay the lace and sew it on th top edge and bottom edge. cut off any excess.flip it over and fold the lace onto the back and do th same. just leave room for the zipper. As for the chiffon, get some that nylon so it wont fray.

this part is probably best to do on a mannequin and just try to drape, pin and sew.

if it helps at all, that piece is in the spring 2012 elie saab collection. you might be able to find a simpler design in the collection which may be easier to execute?
