I recently discovered that a friend I used to volunteer with is here on Craftster!  I don't know many crafty people so I was chuffed when I found that out.  We agreed to have a personal swap and this is something I sent her:

My stitching is kind of wonky but I like to think that this is charming.  I'm not sure which side is the front/back or up/down so I'll let littlebluegirl decide.

I used a wonderful craftster tutorial (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=241981.0) for the binding technique and made the book out of a cardboard box and some felt and cotton fabric scraps.  I had some little bits of leftover ribbon that I knew I was keeping for a reason so I added them too.  Each signature has an outer sheet of pretty paper from my stash.

A close-up of the pretty paper.

It's beautiful. These may have to go on my "To Craft" list. Great job.

What a great idea to wrap each signature in unique colour and allow that to show on the spine!

The buttons and stitching on the cover are adorable too!

This is so pretty! And I'm going to use this idea next year for making myself a planner. I'm so picky I spend months searching for something "close enough that I can use it"... My brain is expanding with make it myself ideas now. And color-coded!
