This is absolutely stunning.  I've never seen quilling with this kind of detail and artistry!  When you're manipulating the paper/laying it down, how much do you usually have planned out?

This is absolutely stunning.  I've never seen quilling with this kind of detail and artistry!  When you're manipulating the paper/laying it down, how much do you usually have planned out?
Well, seeing as I had never really done something like this before I planned all of it out except for the fin detail and interior wave swirls. I think next time I would leave the waves to my whim as they were easier to free hand. I made the original drawing so that everything would be well balanced but I may have overthought it.

I think sea creatures and organic shapes really lend themselves well to quilling what with all the spirals and all - I wonder what other shapes might work well?
