printing on every surface I can find

So last week I started printing a new design I've been working on. I hadn't done more than a 2 colour print since uni days and as I'm becoming more confident with my skills I thought it was time to give it a try!

This is the screen for the final layer with the balloon line work. I made the design by scanning my drawings into photoshop and then arranging the repeat, I then printed it off onto acetate and exposed it onto the screen using light sensitive photo emulsion. A lengthy process (it took me all day to get all 4 screens done) but once its done you can go to town with how many you print!! and i did  Tongue

a close up of one of the colours going down

a view of the table I was working at. Its great, the ppl at the PrintHaus studio where I go made the table by laying a thick rubber down on top of a sturdy workbench, by using gum arabic you can iron your fabric down in place! The guys at the PrintHaus are amazing btw, they've completely made the studio in an old warehouse and everything is DIY, one of the guys has a knack with carpentry and they've built walls, a little kitchen, desks, printing tables galore whilst still having day jobs!

2 colours printed

I like printing onto lots of different 'found' fabrics rather than plain, there are a few chopped up pillow cases in there!! but it's cool to be able to incorporate other patterns like the polka dots as the background. I found that time flew when I was working too; waiting for screens to dry whilst printing other colours, it actually worked out a lot more time effective using more colours as there was a constant flow of screens to print!

I've started making small purses with the fabric I've printed Smiley so much fun seeing a project right through from design to sewing/making. Think this is going to get addictive  Cheesy

How wonderful to be able to craft with fabric you printed yourself, incredible.

Look twice, buy once. Nooooo
Look twice, decide I can make one instead.

Those are all really nice. I don't think I would have the patience for something with so many steps before you can actually start working. At least the results are fabulous!

msg me if you're interested in a private swap! ^_^

Your prints look great. I've only done single color prints, but this makes me want to try more colors.  Smiley

Don't know how I missed this, but it is wonderful. Using all the colors and a retro style balloon design = genius!
