I'm back!  And I had a blast.

I've mentioned it on Rav, but I'll post here too.  I've gone and accidentally bought some lovely dyed Alpaca top, by accident, thinking it was something else.  I can't spin Alpaca without getting tight in the chest and throat..... So!  I'm GIVING AWAY ONE OF THE BRAIDS as a prize for one of you lucky ladies!   Everytime you post a picture you get an entry.  So, if you choose to post a picture here too, the one picture will only count once.   So post!  I want to see pretty yarn progress!

Speaking of Pretty yarn progress:

TdF day 2 by SpinHeartSpin, on Flickr

I'm not sure if it's thin enough.... might make a decision to self ply and try again... not sure....

Took a break from the crazy lace and spun for fun.

oh! I should add its a core spun that I crazy carded a batt for.  Lots of color, lots of texture, and a goodly amount of sparkle Cheesy

LOVE your thin spun yarn, Belladune! It looks so perfect!  I can imagine it plied and knitted into lacy socks!   I'm behind on the Tour de Fleece -- that's why I'm a lantern rouge!  Cheesy

Sarah and Belladune, those are lovely!

I'm plugging along in the TDF as best I can. My oldest son is coming home to live with us, and we have to reconfigure our space and do some remodeling. He'll help with all of that, but it will be time consuming. We also will be having company come in from out of town for a brief visit. The heat wave and inadequate air conditioning is also kicking our butts right now, so everything is happening at a slowed-down pace.

Here is a link to my TdF photo stream so far. I still need to upload them to Photobucket from my other computer so I can show the finished yarns here. I've had trouble getting Flickr images to post here in the past. I don't know if it's still a problem or not. I've used Photobucket exclusively for Craftster stuff for the last few years.

We are having a terrible time financially right now, but that doesn't mean I can't spin.  Grin My focus will be on creative re-use. I'm having a lot of fun with it. Yesterday, I was going to make a yarn using that multicolored chiffon and the red crochet thread (plus whatever else I feel like adding), but I wasn't able to get to it. Today, I'll get to work on that, and then next I'll make something with that shredded silk sweater. Smiley

Laughing Lark, if you click the Share menu when you are on a picture, you'll have the option to grab the BBC code.  Pick medium (500), it will give you a code to copy and paste! easy peasy. Smiley

Very pretty SarahJ2001,  They are soooo squishy.

A2K,  you know, since the lace is a blend of merino, silk and bamboo, it just might hold up to the wear a sock gets... that's a good thought. one I'll keep with me. Cheesy

Thanks, Belladune!

Ive been working on this one a little bit daily. I got the fiber a couple of years ago from MullersLaneFarm, and promptly turned it into newbie rope. Now I'm re-spinning it thinner.  Grin
Before:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/15935808@N00/7471970390/" title="Tour de Fleece-Team Rookie- Superwash roving and a beginner attempt to unwind and re-draft thinner if possible by Beadycat, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7259/7471970390_f6e2f9a1dc.jpg" width="500" height="450" alt="Tour de Fleece-Team Rookie- Superwash roving and a beginner attempt to unwind and re-draft thinner if possible"></a>
After:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/15935808@N00/7481742088/" title="Tour de Fleece 2012-Team rookie- re-spun yarn close up by Beadycat, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7249/7481742088_794f9967f3.jpg" width="500" height="470" alt="Tour de Fleece 2012-Team rookie- re-spun yarn close up"></a>
And I also did a tiny amount of work on this one yesterday. I'm trying to do long draw. There is some swearing involved.  Grin

Today's spinning project will involve these ingredients in some way...
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/15935808@N00/7471968832/" title="Tour de Fleece-Team Breakaway- chiffon scarf to spin by Beadycat, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8148/7471968832_c52f6b0d6b.jpg" width="500" height="445" alt="Tour de Fleece-Team Breakaway- chiffon scarf to spin"></a>

Edited to add: Crap, I'm still having trouble with Flickr. I'll edit in these pics on Photobucket later. Sad

AH! Everyone is making such insanely beautiful yarn! I spent my day at a rented drum carder at the yarn store. I was so slow they are letting me go back for free this week. But the batts I made are lovely. A nice variation between honey and caramel in color. I'm going to spin them up tonight Smiley
