Tour de fleece 2012

ohh, I never heard of the Tour de Fleece before, but I love the idea of expanding my skillset and trying new things. I am defo in!!

I suppose I should post my goals!!  

1) Spin 12 oz of merciboo top into a serious lace weight.  Like,  craykray lace.  Practically sewing thread. or like 2 strands of sewing thread together crazy lace. because I'm nuts.  I might even buy the lace flyer for my Traveller...

2) Spin my way through a book.  I'm also heading up the team Team Look in a Book!  Where the goal will be to spin my way through one of my books, but just a sample of each technique... I just have to choose a book...

3) Spin some cotton on my tahkli.  I have ~4 oz of cotton that's been sitting for a long time.  If I get through it, I'll give a go at the camel and yak i have too!

Ohh I'll take part in the Craftster team! It will be my first TdF!! I will actually be out of the country all summer so I'll be spinning on a drop spindle and what I bring with me... or maybe I can find some lovely yarn/fiber shops... that would be GREAT. My boyfriend already knows of a yarn store and is going to take me there so I'll see if I can hunt some international fibers down.

Ooh, I wish I had seen the challenge sooner! I was out of town for a few days but I've been back long enough that I could have been working on the challenge instead of this cross-stitch. Oh, who I am kidding, I'm sucked into the stitching again so maybe I'm have to try this challenge next week. I think I have some spare Sheep Shed roving laying around somewhere...

I just signed up for this on ravelry.

My goals: Just get some spinning done and through a bit of my fiber.

I've got a box of llama hair, an entire fleece, plus a couple pounds of washed wool in various shades and types, a goodly amount of silk, and various samplings of bunnies and 2 pounds of cotton. Oh: and flax. Maybe other stuff. Plus a friend has informed me she's giving me another fleece. See? I *really* need to get spinning. (and washing). I've got a goal to make my own Oriental carpet (prayer rug size) from fibers I've spun/dyed/wove... need to get busy so I can cross it off my list!

No, I was going to make it today.  I've been so stupid busy, and very easily distracted (it's so darn nice out!! Among other things, of course -children, homework, life) that every time I sit down to do something on here I need to be somewhere else in less then 5 minutes..

I just signed up. Still unpacking, but I know where my wool is, and I'm spinning again. I'm  also in Team Rookie (first year) and Team Breakaway (art yarns).
