Aussie OWS Feb 2012
«
on:
January 29, 2012 03:28:58 PM »
Welcome to the Feb 2012 Aussie Ongoing Wish Swap!
This swap will open on February 1st and close on February 29th - Australian Time (Melb). If you would like to sign up please read all info and PM the organiser Skittlebub your questionnaire.
If you have participated in other ongoing swaps before, please ensure you read this information as you may find things a little different (but no different to the previous AOWS)
The following information has been based on / borrowed from the OWS
: This swap works as a chain. The first person will post a wish list containing both crafted items and supplies, another participant claims at least a medium item from their list and then posts their own list and so on.
: A medium item consists of a craft that takes the average crafter more than 2 hours to complete (not including drying/waiting time), or if sending supplies, AU$20-$30 of store bought items.
: Please include a
minimum
of
35
specific crafted items and
15
supplies in your list. To help the other participants it helps if you have a link to an image or tutorial of what you would like to receive. The more items you have in your wish list the faster you will get claimed.
Please organise your wish list into:
Crafted
Craft Supplies
Extras
You may like to organise your crafted wished into subheadings such as Yarn/ Sewn/ Papercraft/ etc.
: Please include a short description of yourself at the beginning of your post and include any allergies or things you don’t like (colours/patterns/etc.) to avoid any disappointments.
: If you have a pinterest or wist you can also include that if you are happy for someone to claim something from there, perhaps specifying the boards you want to be claimed from. Please specify if you are happy or not to receive a ‘wisty/pinteresty surprise’.
: Since we are only posting within Australia it is possible to send along food, baked goods and natural materials, so you may like to include those within your wish list.
: A note regarding extras: These accompany crafted items or craft supplies and do not count towards the ‘medium’ portion of the swap.
: This is a high quality swap so please only make a claim if you know you can fulfil the wish to a high calibre as you would also like to receive.
: When you claim, at the beginning of your post please include the following information: How many claims you have made, how many claims are in transit and how many claims have been received by your partner. The format 2-0-1 will be ok.
: Please have your list ready before you make a claim to help the chain move along quickly.
: Please contact the person you have claimed ASAP to say Hello and ask for their postal address, that is your responsibility to organise.
: You may choose to not send your parcel via registered post, but understand that if it goes missing you will be required to re-send.
: You have 3 weeks to send your claim to allow people who need more time with their crafting. Once you have sent, please PM both organisers and the recipient the claim information (i.e. Oodelally ----> NatACT for ? , Due September 24)
: Please include the following in the subject of all communication to organiser Skittlebub:
AOWS Approval (when sending in your questionnaire)
AOWS Sent
AOWS Received
AOWS Question
: Please make finishing other swaps a priority before joining this swap.
: Please do not make a claim for this swap until you have been approved. As soon as you have been added to the list on the first page you can begin claiming and join in the fun
: This swap will last one month and the if all goes well will begin again at the start of March where you will need to submit another questionnaire. You may join in at any time during the month.
Regarding Feedback:
: There are some things that will land you with negative feedback, so please pay attention to the following information.
* You must send the medium item that you have claimed for, otherwise you will receive negative feedback.
* If you claim for a cotton hat then do not send a wool one or you will need to send again.
* Pay close attention to your partners allergies and wishes. If you send something that is on the list of allergies, or dislikes etc. you will be required to send again We don’t want any swappers get something that is clearly in their list of things they don’t like and or have allergies of.....
: If everything goes successfully you will receive feedback once you have, sent, received and posted pictures for all of your claims
...Or if you have not posted pictures, up to 2 weeks after the swap has ended.

I'll claim skittlebub for a sizzix die and some other items... This is my first claim.
ABOUT ME
Hello, my name's Wendy and I live in Sydney. I am a sole parent & have 3 children (20, 13, 11).
I've just been made redundant from my stressful admin job and will be starting a Certificate IV in Design next week (which I am super-excited about). I have also just started watercolor painting classes.
My style is quite eclectic, and I like a mix of vintage and modern.
For the home I like French provincial and Hamptons style in neutral tones such as pale grey, cream, taupe (in the Federation part of my house). The 1970s extension out the back is more of a contemporary/modern style in wood tones and mid green. Probably best to check with me before you make anything for my home as I will be moving to a much smaller place later in the year
My personal style is arty. I like bold, chunky jewellery made out of natural materials such as metal, agate, glass, wood. I mainly wear black, chocolate brown or grey, accented with red, purple, hot pink, or magenta (which is currently my favourite colour - for me, not for the home!)
I dislike blue, mint and dark green, peach, yellow and orange, as well as cutesy, country, checks, spots, stripes, skulls. My favourite patterns are modern leaf prints or printed damask. I would prefer not to receive anything in polyester, acrylic or other synthetic fabrics or fibres.
I can't stand the smell of perfume or cigarette smoke.
I would love a supplies package as I need quite a lot of materials for my design and painting courses.
Items with a * are a big wish.
CRAFTED ITEMS
General
* a chalkboard/blackboard in a white vintage style frame (minimum size A4 but would prefer A3)
* magnetic spice tins (don't need the spices) see my pinterest for examples
- sliced trunk clock - inspired by pinterest - modern hands please
- Beeswax tealight candles (no paraffin or soy wax please)
Knitted:
- garter stitch cotton potholders in leaf green or taupe
- cotton dishcloths in leaf green or taupe
- woollen socks in one of my fave colours (shoe size eight)
- knitted bowls/baskets in organic or natural coloured cotton
Crocheted:
- cotton crocheted handbag in either purple, dark pink, chocolate brown or white (with a shoulder strap and big enough to carry large wallet, drink bottle, makeup bag and phone)
- bowls/baskets in organic or natural coloured cotton
- crocheted cotton earrings in white, pink, brown or purple
- crocheted cotton jug cover in white with clear or pale green glass beads
Jewellery:
I like my jewellery very chunky and natural looking. I wear my necklaces very long
- chunky rose quartz long necklace, bracelet or earrings (please use silver findings as I am allergic to nickel)
- agate/geode slice earrings in purple, brown or grey (please use silver findings as I am allergic to nickel)
- very long silver or gunmetal chain with large links
- jewellery from my wists or pinterest
Sewn:
- A set of huge drawstring bags made from plain unembellished calico and cotton cord (to store bedding, out of season clothing, travel bags etc). A couple 25" x 20" and 36" x 32" would be great.
- A set of smaller drawstring bags made from plain unembellished calico or ilnen & cotton cord to store shoes when I am travelling.
OR Any items on my Crafted Items Wishlist on my pinterest
http://pinterest.com/WendyBurgess/
except the crocheted coasters (which I am getting in another swap)
SUPPLIES
General
* Self adhesive magnet sheets
* cork sheets sized at least 8" x 11"
- natural hessian/jute ribbon
