This dress took me about 150 hours of work. The mask has been covered by me. The fan comes from Venice.
You can ask for any details Cheesy

This is absolutely lovely!  Did you use patterns?  What did you use for the pink trim?  It's just gorgeous, you should be very proud!

For the trims, I sewed a pink tube and a green tube (larger) and then I gathered them together Cheesy

Great job and good choice on fabrics.  The mask adds to it nicely and I love your hair style.  Wonderful job on the trimming too!
You may want to tie the strings in the center of your panniers a little tighter to flatten out the front and back of your gown more though.  It will lay a lot flatter and not pouf out so much.  If you don't have ties, you can simply add ribbon from front to back inside the skirt of the panniers and tie until flattened a bit more.
This extant example shows what I mean by the flatter shape

This is beautifully done, and I think your colour choice goes a long way towards making it seem real. Today we wouldn't think of pairing those two colours, but it's a very 18th c. combination. And I like your tip about the pannier ties, BennaeQuee. I've never known how the shape of those skirts is controlled.

Thanks for posting this, sirsinene. It's inspiring to see such nice work. And where did you find that lovely wall for a backdrop? It was a perfect choice!

Thanks for the tips about the panniers! You are right!
The photos have been taken in a ceramic museum  Smiley
At the begining, I really wasn't sure about the colors, I doubted a lot! But then I've seen this dress made by the wonderful Rose Bertin for Marie Antoinette.

And I thought "If Rose Bertin made it, then I can make it!"  Grin

Stunning! I love historical fiction and I've started reading "Madame Tussaud:a novel of the French revolution" by Michelle Moran. I think this dress would be right at home within those pages...oh! another good one is"Becoming Marie Antoinette" by Juliet Grey.

Shocked Wow that is beautiful, and those words just don't cut it. I mean WOW!!!

I love the two colors together they are great, and then the mask, hair, fan. Love it. I have the same patterns and can't wait to craft a gown though I have no place to wear it. Not that it's going to stop me. I'm trying to make a mock up but funds are tight and I'm confused about the back of the dress Embarrassed. the long drapes of fabric are they just sewn in on the top of the gown and then draped down, or are they sewn onto the sides of the skirt? Huh I'm going to have to research better when I get some time. I'm a hands on learner and some of the visuals are confusing to me. Then again sometimes the easiest things are the hardest for me, and the hard things come me no problem.  Tongue

beautiful dress. Smiley

Thanks Cheesy Don't worry jeannebaby1, I was very confused about the back of the dress too! Actually, the Watteau pleat is sewn at the top of the dress, then onto the sides of the bodice, and then onto the sides of the skirt. There is no space left at the back. The eyelets are actually on the lining, you can only tighten the dress if you raise the back of the skirt and pleat. I hope I helped you Cheesy

Stop being so damned positive. Staring at the sun only blinds some one. By only looking at the positive, you miss an entire beautiful world of shadows and colors. Don't be overly negative, be realistic. The world is so much more complex and beautiful that way.
