A Bag from a Jacket

Hello Everyone!

This is my latest bag made from a jacket which I found in a thrift store. It was a really interesting project: way easier to make than I thought it would be and it turned out to be my favorite bag (so far). I hope you like it

That bag looks much smarter than the jacket did! Is it suede? I looks wonderful and I love the little leaf detail for the handles.

Thank you, Antidigger! The material is called alcantara (I first heard of it when I read the tag on a jacket): it looks like suede, it feels like suede and yet it's made from polyester. Amazing material to work with, unfortunately I haven't seen any in regular fabric stores (I'm not from USA) and the ones I saw on Ebay had a pretty high price... I guess I'll have to thrift more to find this material again

I have seen a bag made from a skirt in a book and wanted to do that. But now I know I can also look for a nice jacket next time I am at the thrift store!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! that is so cute!  love the framed square.  that fabric looks thick. did it kill your machine??? (or do you have a heavy duty machine?)

No, the fabric isn't hard to sew at all! I was so surprised that it was so easy to sew But even if I would have used some other material (faux leather for example) it wouldn't have been a big problem - there aren't many layers to sew in this bag

Thank you The dimensions are 30cm x 30cm x 10cm. Material is alcantara (which is basically the polyester alternative for suede)
