How do you do the decrease?

I'm pretty new to knitting so I'm not sure how to do that yet.  I can follow a pattern and have done really well with the pattern so far...I just need to know how to finish it.  Thanks!  Cheesy

These are some potentially dumb questions so I apologize but... what weight of yarn did you use? Worsted? Also, do you happen to remember the yardage you ended up using?  I cast on 80 stitches with some Red Heart Eco-Ways and it seems really small.  Undecided

First of all, thanks so much for this pattern! I saved it years ago when I was first leaning how to knit, and am finally getting to make it. It took me about 20 minutes in the store choosing which Malabrigo colour combination to go with - I'm gonna do rust and white to match a dress of mine.

jungrrl - I know that you asked this question almost a year ago jungrrl, but I have just started this hat (and love it!) and I think I can answer your questions ...

The Malabrigo Merino is a worsted weight.
The 80 stitch cast on does look small (inly about a 7" diameter before stretching) but it fits my 22.75" head fine. I am also using Malabrigo yarn and it's SUPER strechy and bouncy - if you are using a yarn that is not 100% wool then you will probably need more stitches than 80.

yardage? don't know - sorry!

Thanks! I had actually finished knitting my own in February of last year. I'm just now posting it! Yeesh. I just did stripes with a color changing yarn instead of the pattern.

jungrrl-- That looks amazing!  I love the contrast of the color changing yarn and the turquoise. Smiley

Those colours look so good together jungrrl!
I finished making mine in December and I also wear it everywhere! It's such a great pattern. Smiley

And I suppose that I should have looked at your post date before responding ... lol ... so much late information. Wink
