I like to make weird jewelry out of the crap I am compelled to gather in my travels Smiley  Here's my latest pieces...

This one is made of an old watch carcass, a tiny porcelain dresdan doll, text with a rusty key bail

My favourite made out of a piece of steel, cool rusty circle thing, text with a mica overlay and rusty wire

These pendants are made of hand hammered bailing wire, text filled with resin

This one has a neato brass base (some kind of tag?) that has a 5 stamped on it, bailing wire overlay and a rusty star charm

And this one is made from an old camera bulb that I picked up in Atlanta while junking with rackycoo last spring  I made a button bail out of vintage buttons

These were fun to make, I usually have no plan just a pile of crap, E600 and findings Smiley

haha, you can actually buy rusty junk on etsy.  most of it comes from $1 boxes at auctions and from poking around outside the various auto shops in town.  I find a lot of crap on the ground, which is why my kids pretend they are not with me when we are walking around Cheesy

you must walk alone too Cheesy  I have an amazing collection of flattened rusty bottle caps from every truck stop/turnout we have driven past but haven't quite figured out what kind of jewelry to make with them...

I love what you've created! The way you put all the different elements together, I like how the book pages look with these. Rusty bits are some of my favorite things.  The 'no plan, a pile of random crap and e600' is just what I do, too. And yes, to walking around auto part places. I used to walk around the car repair place's parking lot on my lunch break every day, and come back with another bit of metal in my pockets.
Alteredmommy, I have a collection of rusty flattened bottlecaps, too. One of these days I'll figure a project out. Cheesy
Anyway, I love the necklaces! You are so very creative. I need to go hit 'this rocks' now.

Whoa.  They're all compelling but I like the maimed doll the best.  You'll be pleased to learn that some of the parts that are probably going into your swap piece from me were found on the ground.  But they aren't junk!  They're "supplies."   Roll Eyes

These are so lovely.  I think my favourites are the second and the last one.  They're all gorgeous though.  Love the combination of the text and the rusty metal.

Those are beautiful, especially the first one. But are they safe to wear? Or do you spray something over the rust?

All the rusty bits are on the front so they don't touch skin.  I do put a very light spray of sealer on but find if you seal rust too much it turns dark brown and very unrust like.  which is kind of a bummer......
