Received from noooitaremybirthday, who based her design on my Ocean theme:

The colors in the fabrics are all wonderfully watery, and from the front the quilting design feels to me like a sunburst, while on the solid color back the effect is more like arrows pointing inward:

The rug itself is a little under 6" x 7" and...thin, for lack of a better word (NOT a criticism, just a description); there doesn't seem to be batting between the front and back, and I don't imagine those many narrow rows of stitching could be accomplished if there were -- and yet there is still a nice dimensionality between the lines of stitches thanks to all that quilting.

The binding includes another layer of dimension which looks to be yarn under zig-zagging:

And guess what?  That octopus and I are old pals, as I used part of the same image on a pair of earrings:
and because of which I'm assuming this one is a transfer onto fabric...though I can barely feel any difference in texture between the octo and the fabric on which it sits.

Thanks so much, Kira, I smile every time I see my new mug rug -- which is all the time as it's been on display (and even in use once or twice) since it arrived!

There is one layer of batting in there, but it did end up a little thin after the quilting. I'm glad it makes you smile, though Smiley

I really do like it this way: it perfectly suits the overall design, and I keep looking at and running my hands over my rug in admiration of your quilting skills!

I received today! My partner starfish1211 made me this beautiful Rug Mug. She used just about all my themes. My love of gerbils and hamsters. This rug is for my BF for Valentine's Day. He is a bowler. A very good league bowler. I like the scene of the critters bowling on the mug rug.  Thank you so much. Steve is going to love it.

She also sent me a couple packages of tea. I love tea.
