We moved recently and I have been finding all kinds of "lost" things.  Yesterday, this shirt surfaced that I had made a few years ago....

It was very easy to do.  I first sketched out a ruff idea of what I wanted.  Then I did some outlines onto the shirt with my favo marking tool..a thin sliver of soap.  I put some cardboard inside the tshirt and then I drew the squid onto the shirt using this..

Anywhere the glue touches will not take the dye, so make sure you only put it where you want it.  The hardest part is waiting for the glue to dry before you do the coloring.  I used SETACOLOR instead of dye.  Whether you dye or paint, you don't want to mess with it too much as the glue starts to dissolve when it gets wet.  Once I had it painted, I let the whole thing dry.  Then I put it in the dryer to set the setacolor.  Then I just soaked it in a tub and changed the water a bunch.  Eventually I washed it 2 or 3 times to make sure the glue was all out.  And that's it, all done Grin

Thanks for looking Grin

Tell me you have grown tired of this fabulous shirt and are ready to pass it along to me? LOL, I love it. Gonna have to give this one a go with my kids. Super fantastic!

How's the new place?

It would be great to do with kids!  Could end up being a huge mess though, so older kids perhaps.

I do promise, CLM, that if I ever do get tired of it, it's yours Grin  The house is AMAZING!  We have been snowed in for a few days, which was awesome.  But we are just headed out now to go fix up the condo to get it to sell.  They are an hour away from each other, so it is hard to be motivated to go and do it...besides getting money of course Grin

And Thanks for all the positives everyone!  It's definitely worth doing..OO and I just wanted to say it took a full bottle to do that design, just to give y'all an idea of how much you might need.

This is really a good idea, it looks something different. But somewhere I think it could have been much better is color choice would be bit different.

What a neat idea, it reminds me of the look of batik fabric! I've been lurking around for ideas to tackle a mound of clothing I've been hoarding to revamp, and this is great! Thanks for posting!

The shirt came out awesome! Is it a requirement to use gel glue, or will any water soluble glue work?

Thanks Grin  I don't know if it would work with any water soluble glue.  I found the tut on line some where and they said Use This Stuff.  I imagine that because it is a gel, it is a bit harder to dissolve then regular white school glue.  When I was using the settacloros paint, I could tell the glue was dissolving from the dampness of the paint.  I had let the glue dry for at least 24 hours, and yet it all washed out.  I am not sure all of the white glue would wash out once it was that dry.  I am planning to try this out again and I will run a few tests when I do Grin
