This swap is now open: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=403406.0

I recently made these fabric baskets as part of the packages I sent in the Morsbag Swap, and they attracted a lot of attention.  The idea was raised of having a fabric basket swap, and susanab and I think that is a fantastic idea!!

Let's expand the idea to include any sort of a free-standing fabric storage container--baskets, boxes, bins and buckets all work.  Here is a link to a list of ten tutorials for all of these options.  Some of you might feel intimidated by this idea, but there is probably something in the list of tutorials that you could tackle.  If you have any other links, please add them below.

We want to start after susanab gets back from her business trip, so sign-ups would probably start Feb. 6th, and partners would be given on Feb. 11th.

We're thinking of making it very much like the Morsbag swap, where everyone makes one fabric container of their choice, plus two small extras.  Would you rather it be just one extra?  And how much crafting time would you like to have?  I'm thinking about 3 1/2 weeks, so send-outs would be around March 7th.

I'd like to hear your ideas!

This is a really nifty idea!  I've made some fabric baskets before and they were fun to make. Smiley

Would this only be limited to fabric or could felted or crocheted/knit baskets also be accepted?

And I think 3 and a half weeks would be sufficient.

We would like this to be a swap for sewists, so it would just be fabric baskets and containers this time.

Cheesy Cheesy  This sounds like another fun swap!  I think all the suggestions are great, Leslie - sign ups, send outs, and contents of swap - all good.  Thanks!!   Smiley

This sounds like SO much fun. What a great idea!

I've been fighting with my sewing machine lately. I haven't had many successful projects so I'm lacking in confidence a bit. I'll be keeping my eye on this one though.

this one will be a challenge for me, the self-proclaimed sloppy sewer.
if 90 degree corners is just a number to you and if you think that the best part of basket is the basket case behind it--maybe we'll be paired together Cheesy

I like it and would defintely sign up for it! 3.5 weeks is good crafting time, especially since I will be away on a family vaca for part of it (incentive for me to be organized in my crafting).  1 or 2 extras is fine for me. I also like all the different options we could sew.  This could expand on my sewing skills!
