Embroidery Hoopla R7 - Silhouette & Negative Space! (SU CLOSED, SO Feb 27)

Does anyone have some examples of what is meant by negative space embroidery? I understand what silhouettes would be, but not so sure about negative space. Any thoughts or examples? Thanks!

A negative space embroidery would kind of be the opposite of a silhouette. The space that isn't stitched becomes the design. Here are a couple examples...

Hey for jexxican - here is my hoopla wall. Also did I ever get a laugh out of your potential hoop picture.

Actually the one picture you can't see very well is a negative space Scottie dog that Melladh made for me the last hoopla round.

I can't wait.  Haven't sent q'naire yet but will before sign ups.  I have a couple of swaps to finish up in the next week.
But I voted for this too, so i"m excited.
I keep thinking of that "coffee" that Sheep Blue did back in round 3 or 4 or ? That was one of my favorites I"ve seen.

Thanks! Me too. I think I got the idea from D*S a couple years back, maybe. Or maybe it was somewhere else. Either way, someone hada bunch of doilies and didn't know what to do with them so she made a whole hoopla wall out of doilies. I feel the same: what are you supposed to do with them? What is the point? Hoop it!

I'm so happy to see so many returning hoopers to round 7 and plenty of new faces too! Yippeee! I think this is going to be a marvelous round. I'm excited about the theme.
