Here are two small journals I made inspired and made with the directions from these two cute journals:http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=278134.0
I decided to make my kids journals for Christmas after seeing this. But before I did I made a practice journal first.
This is the first ever journal I made. The cover is from a cereal box covered with the pretty holiday pattern from a brown bag. The inside from the other side of the brown bag. I cut the pages from paper salvaged from the scrap pile at work. I used PVA glue to get the pages in. At first it seemed fine, but the more I played with it the more the bank of pages began to come out. By then it was too late to turn back because I'd already started my kids journals.
So I had to re-glue the page bank back into the cover. So far it seems to be holding. It does not lay too flat.
You can see where the cover got a little messed up from the two glue attempts.

Any ideas where I went wrong? I think the first time I closed the journal when I put the pages inside. The second time I left them upright between two soup cans. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Here is another one I made after my kids Journals (I put each of them in a separate topic to keep the pics down!). So far so good with this one, but have not opened/closed too much or used yet! I watercolored the first page and last page. Same paper as before. Still a cereal box cover, but my Mom gave me some pretty scrapbooking paper to cover it with.
