Here are two small journals I made inspired and made with the directions from these two cute journals:

I decided to make my kids journals for Christmas after seeing this. But before I did I made a practice journal first.

This is the first ever journal I made. The cover is from a cereal box covered with the pretty holiday pattern from a brown bag. The inside from the other side of the brown bag. I cut the pages from paper salvaged from the scrap pile at work. I used PVA glue to get the pages in. At first it seemed fine, but the more I played with it the more the bank of pages began to come out. By then it was too late to turn back because I'd already started my kids journals. Sad So I had to re-glue the page bank back into the cover. So far it seems to be holding.  It does not lay too flat.

You can see where the cover got a little messed up from the two glue attempts.

Any ideas where I went wrong? I think the first time I closed the journal when I put the pages inside. The second time I left them upright between two soup cans. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Here is another one I made after my kids Journals (I put each of them in a separate topic to keep the pics down!). So far so good with this one, but have not opened/closed too much or used yet! I watercolored the first page and last page. Same paper as before. Still a cereal box cover, but my Mom gave me some pretty scrapbooking paper to cover it with. Smiley

I install end papers to cover the folded over edges and they hide any gap between the cover and the first signature.
