Happy Fiber Friday!

I have a few skeins for oogling this week.  I spun them up at the beginning of January but missed last weeks F.F.

Back skein: 201yards (SW Merino)
Front skein: 76 yards  (not sure fiber content)
Both fibers are from swaps here on Craftster and are chain plied

Merino,Merino
4.5 ozs
2 skeins = 326 yards (1 @181 yds, 1 @ 145 yds)
Hand dyed with "Wilton's Icing Dyes"

The second skein is for a group on Ravlery called 12lbs in 2012.  I'm hoping to make that challenge this year. It works out to be about 4oz a week, which seems fairly reasonable.

Love them! Great job. Still have to fix my wheel. Grr. Good news though, for my crafty addiction, I'll be getting some built in storage. Yay! More room for fibers goods! Wink

Ooh, dollface, that second picture looks so squishy. But I love the chain plies, too. Chained yarn is the best!

I totally forgot about this yesterday even though I do have yarn to share and yesterday was an all fiber day (though no spinning)

May I present 4 oz angora/alpaca blend. I won it from the Phat Fiber Blog. I'm hoping to get a box tomorrow but we shall see. Here's the yarn!

First time I used my new Jumbo Flyer, courtesy of my husband for Cmas. So glad I didn't have to divide it up. I was thinking I would save it for Cmas this year because I was thinking it come out looking more like a candy cane but I think it's not that bad. I should make something for my MIL with it since she is the one who bought my wheel and drum carder but what to make?

I don't spin, but I do have fiber! This week I have been scouring raw fleece. The previous week I did some racka and scottish backface, this week has been border leicester and cormo. This weekend is going to be the last of the border leicester, some leicester longwool, and two half-fleeces that I found when cleaning up the fleece shelf (I was going to felt them raw, but wasn't thrilled with how the sample pieces went, plus these are some stinky fleeces).

The leicester longwool, about to go in to pre-soak

cleaned border leicester drying on the vent. Must be just about dry, or the cat wouldn't be sleeping in it.

more border leicester (4 lb fleece)

This is Not My Cormo, the remnants of a giant fleece. Another craftster left it at my house since I actually like scouring raw fleece. Most of it will be going back home to be combed and spun.

A raw gotland fleece is on its way, that one will be tested for felting in the raw before I scour it. Tonight: sample test cobweb felting with the border leicester...

P. Wumpus: gorgeous fiber! Say, if you ever need another hammock... Wink

Bella, Thanks! But what do you mean little? That's 4oz @ 200 yards. I guess I didn't photograph it very well. Now I know!

Dollface, thank you. It is very soft. I loved it on it for at least 20 minutes when I first opened the package. I want more but they don't have any more of this blend yet. Maybe they will before too long and I can actually pay for it this time?
