I just got married a couple of weeks ago, and after nine months of planning, I think things came out quite nice! I'm looking forward to updating this post as I get more pictures of the super fun homemade DIY part of my wedding.
What I'm most proud of, are the coffee filter flower bouquets that I made with my sweet mother-in-law! I got my inspiration from
alinaswedding in
this particular post. And then I went to Martha Stewart's website, found some instructions, and after a few tries, managed to come out with some rather real looking roses! I could not have done it without my crazy talented mother-in-law. I would have given up, because each rose takes a LONG time. I underestimated the amount of time I would need to put into making five bridesmaids bouquets of six roses each, one bridal of eight roses, and ten-ish boutonnieres for groomsmen, groom, fathers, and grandfathers. Not to mention the mothers/grandmothers corsages! But it came together.
I chose the color "plum" for my main wedding color (December wedding calls for December colors---plus it happened to be the Groom's favorite color...
) and black and silver for accents. It's the plum color that David's bridal has for dresses and men's wearhouse has for vests and ties, if you want to know specifically. The flowers were a lavender color and went quite nicely with the dresses! We tipped them with the plum color so they matched.

The bracelet you can see in this picture was actually made by my wonderful mother-in-law (can you ever sing their praises enough?)
and she made my earrings as well, but I don't think there is a picture of those yet. I'll post one when I get them in. As you can see, we used pearls as accents in all the bouquets, and for just the bridal bouquet, we used sparkly tulle instead of plain.

I finally got my wedding pictures and I took individual pictures of some of my wedding projects recently to show you guys!
Let's start with the albums. So for my wedding, I wanted to have pictures of myself and my husband growing up, together and apart (together, meaning, we had known each other and were friends, but I don't mean we were ever dating before we started dating...if that makes any sense... nevermind, ignore that...)
We had a lot of pictures and I wanted to do a theme for my reception. I decided to make every table be a different year. For instance, there was a 2005 table, a 1992 table, etc... Each album was a year or two worth of pictures of us! And then for decoration purposes, I threw some hobby lobby colored vases on the table with some fake flowers in there. On to pictures!
This is my favorite album. The boat is significant, because right before we began dating, we sat in a hotel lobby and talked until the wee hours of the morning. We wrote notes back and forth to each other (sounds sappy, I know... I blame the wee hours of the morning...) and then I took the little piece of paper we were writing notes on (it was a hotel pad of paper) and folded it into a little boat and gave it to him. He kept it for a long time, until he lost it and was sad right before we got engaged later on. Thus, this album has a boat on it to remind us of that one day we really recognized how much we loved each other and wanted to be together.
All of the insides of the books look like this, or something similar to it. I used music paper, because my husband's major is music and he plays the piano.
This is the inside of the dark blue book. Each page in every book has a picture of me on one side and a picture of him on the other, as we grow up through the years.
(FYI: Our song is "Day by Day" by Frank Sinatra!)
I bought all of the paper in the scrap book section at Hobby Lobby. Oh, and I used this tutorial!

I used embroidery thread for the stitching and I used a different color for each one. Some of the threads were the multicolored kind that fades in and out of a certain color!
Doesn't this one look like wall paper! I love the print on it.
And there is a cute picture of my husband with his little cousin right after we started dating a couple years ago.
This one is really neat, because I used this thick textured paper, and actually sanded those fading lines into it after I had constructed the book.
Our monkey book! It's actually the one that holds all of our toddler pictures.
This one reminds me of summer.
Stack of coptic bound books! It took hours to construct the books... and all of the seasons of "how I met your mother," but I finally finished them, and I was finishing putting all of our pictures (by the hundreds) in the books the night before our wedding. Eh, sleep was overrated anyway, right? Who can sleep the night before their wedding... NOT ME!
I had ten albums, but we gave one (the 2011 one) to a very close family friend as a thank-you for helping us so much with our wedding. But now I have a lovely collection of growing up pictures on my shelf in my apartment for me to look at, not only of me and him in it, but of our families too! We did put little notes on the table that asked our guests not to take the books home... we were a little worried that they would. They didn't though!
We spread confetti around the table and the permanent marker is actually for the wedding rocks. We bought a bunch of river rocks from the dollar store, bought a few different colors of markers and spread them on the table for people to write their well wishes on, in place of a guest book. I now have them sitting on my shelf in a glass container, just until I have a garden and a house where I can spread them around in. Such a cute idea. I think I came across it on Pinterest, but I'm not sure...
We got all of those Hobby Lobby vases for free from one of my Bridesmaid's sisters who recently got married. Yay for inexpensive weddings!
Now here is an up close of the beautiful bracelet my mother made for me. It was my something new!

These are the earrings she made to match! They were perfect.
My ring bearer pillow (very quick sew up and I just added a coordinating ribbon to tie the rings to) and garters. One to throw and one to keep. The one to throw has blue ribbon on it (my something blue) and the one to keep has one of my mother's brooches (of Cinderella) attached to it and it served as my something old. My something borrowed was my veil, as it was my sister in law's.
And just for kicks, here's a couple of photos of our wedding party! All of the dresses were from David's Bridal, and I just had them all pick a different dress as long as it was plum and floor length. Two of them had the same one, but I didn't mind and I thought it looked great! Every dress looks different on different people.
The little couple is not a flower girl and ring bearer. The girl is my niece and I am really close to her. My husband has been longtime family friends with the boy's family and he asked him to be in our wedding since I had my niece too.
