So a gaggle of us have been having fun in the Wee House Craftalong and it's been mentioned that perhaps a swap would be in order. I was thinking that instead of swapping a whole house we could swap a themed room. It could be as simple as a cardboard box gussied up to fit a theme chosen by your partner, and a few extra miniature bits and bobs added in for good measure.

Here's a boxed room I did for missingwillow awhile ago which is just made from an old wooden box...

But google "miniature box room" and you'll see loads more examples and possibilities.

I've got two swaps on the go right now but perhaps we could do the sign up thing in February with a long craft period.

Any interest?

Not sure if I'd want a random room box necessarily, but maybe items for a particular room or theme would be cool. Shipping a room box from Canada to anywhere would sadly be expensive. Our postal rates suck.

I'm with you there, Hggdm, lack of space is mostly what's keeping me from starting a wee house, but I could tackle a room.

I know the postage from here can be brutal sometimes, especially for bulky things, but there are ways around it. I remember in one or two of the previous Wee House swaps, there was someone who was famous for her packages that shipped flat-packed like IKEA furniture but could be assembled into fully 3-dimensional houses on arrival. I can't remember her name - can anyone help?

And as Knicker's example photo shows, a room can be quite tiny. Or compressed into a shadow box, which would make it less bulky.

Oh, I so want to do this but I just can't say yes, I haven't even started my own wee house yet! I'll be watching you guys though, envious as anything.

I know shipping stinks in Canada. Once anything is over 2 cm you're paying at least $8 to ship to another address within Canada... and if it's something over 1kg you've got another price jump. I don't understand their pricing at all. Anywho, I think that a room in a small box wouldn't be any more than shipping anything else I might make in a swap. The 'room' could just be a shadow box for example which is quite light and smallish. The miniature extras certainly wouldn't be too much more compared to any other swap.

I'm keeping an eye on this one- I used to do miniatures years ago and would love to get back into it! A room would be a perfect "getting your feet wet" project!

I would be so tempted to join but I already have two swaps starting soon.  I'd sign up in a future round though.
