I know how uninspiring it is to knit winter wear in the summer, but I usually keep trucking. Every Christmas all my male friends and relatives get hats and the women get scarves. It's become a bit of a tradition and they all look forward to a new scarf for the new cold season. Everyone usually wears them all winter. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. So, if nothing else, consider knitting winterwear for Christmas gifts. If nothing else, it'll keep your fingers busy.

by the way, the scarf is amazing and your niece is absolutely charming!

Emily Charlotte?  By any chance is your sister a Bronte fan?
And, wow, on the first project!  Mine was an afghan rug made out of coloured squares, and to be truthful was appalling.

Wow, your scarf is incredible! I have never seen a scarf like this - I love it.
Not only is it beautiful but you have made something really unique and special that your niece is going to have forever and she'll always think of you when she looks at it. How rewarding is that? Awesome work!
