ok lovely and clever quilty ladies, I have finished my nephew's quilt. Yes the one I wanted to make for him when he was born and now he's nearly two! What is the best way to wash an all cotton quilt? Once it's all washed I will take pics and show you all. Smiley

Sloth--I wish I had taken a picture of my room last night before I cleaned it up---it would make your room look, well, still bad, but at least you would not feel alone! Cheesy

Melly--I wash my quilts in warm water (I like the puckering) and if there are dark colors, I throw in a color grabber sheet...which I make myself since I use them a lot and they are rather pricey! Cheesy  I do dry mine on the line in the summer but in the winter, they go into the dryer on a warm heat...I have washed some of my quilts a lot...they get softer each time and I love that!

Paper piecing is something that I rarely do...I have a book on a wishlist that I have been meaning to order...maybe someday

I wash all my quilts in water. Cold, warm, whatever... And line dry in summer and tumble dry in winter.

I just wash quilts with warm water and the casual warm setting on the dryer. That's how I tend to wash most things and I haven't really noticed any problems.

always - I have googled color grabber sheets and saw those ones you can buy. How do you make yours? I had never heard of them before but I was a little worried about the colour running as this quilt has some dark browns as well as some white areas.

So. Paper piecing, that's fun... Roll Eyes the first two blocks I ripped out each seam at least twice.

Sigh.

Then  I discovered MY thing.  Pins. I need to pin pieces.  Not one tutorial I looked at pinned stuff in place. So. Yesterday I got 14 of the 34 stars done for a swap quilt I'm working on. Today it's the 20 little ones.

After hockey. I will venture to the sloth cave! And not come out til I have a huge pile of stars.

melly--I am trying to find you the website where I got the recipe for the color grabbers! Found it!

http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/?s=color+catcher

I made a big pile of them...basically, you take white fabric, soak it in a mix of water and washing soda, dry, and then throw in your wash...you can use the rags over and over by just soaking them in the mix!  I will hunt more later today!

sloth--I am a pinner!
