All righty my quilty comrades... Who is our resident paper piecer. I has questions and insecurities...

1- why on the back. This seems like i will guarantee to sew many times wrong way up.
2- what are the easy cheats.  There have to be some.
3-(just tell me it'll be ok. Wink)

Not sure what i was thinking. Oh yeah sure that pattern wont be too hard...

But first.  I HAVE to re tidy the bins of doom.  The quilt block swap has DESTROYED my sewing room.

See.  That was taken from inside my fabric closet...  Shocked

Slothy, I can't help you on the paper piecing.  I go to the sessions hosted by the LQS.  Watch the demo.  Understand it perfectly and then I come home and wear out my seam ripper.  She does a fold and flip thing.  It makes sense when I see it, but...

Now as to your sewing room... in my house that would be the living room.  Right in front of the big double glass front doors.   It looks the same, perhaps worse.

I like paper piecing but I'm not super awesome or anything. By sewing on the back you are guaranteed to stitch directly on the exact line. Once you get used to it there is less ripping out, but at first it is definitely hard to wrap your mind around. I just got the Add A Quarter inch ruler and it makes paper piecing easier. I use it in conjunction with a piece of cardboard-ish paper. I originally found this on a tute somewhere but cannot re-located it. I could write up a tute if that would help.

The cardboard helps you fold it cleanly, and the quarter inch ruler helps you cut off the excess bulk that gets in your way and can be confusing.

So my regular small ruler will work just as well...  I think i have read toooo many similar but not quite the same techniques and have information overload.  I need to clean mr sewing room and just do it. Make my own technique.  Smiley
