Wow sloth. Everything you found is amazing, and what a great find on the road.

I managed to get a small quilting project done for the September 2012 birthday swap...I had this layer cake that was just so cute, but had no idea what to make...since my partner had some rambunctious nephews, I thought she might like them!

I used a simple jar pattern (it had to fit my 10x10 layer cake size!)

Back:

The binding was pieced using all of the leftovers...and I barely made it with this colorway!  I still have about 30 squares left, but they are not as cute, so I think I will wait for another inspirational project!

The sewing machine from the side of the road (from here on known as HULK) kinda works, it gets power, the light lights and the motor tries to spin. I will run it to my local repair shop for a good cleaning and get the motor running.  Even if its a hundred dollar repair its still a steal.   Smiley

My main machine is also due, way over due, for a tune up and cleaning.

I have 4 more quilts in process right now. Ready for basting. Anyone else get a bunch to the same point nad then do nothing but quilt for a week, then bind for a week then go back to the top pile?

Seeking scraps! I'm in need of a variety of white on white scraps. (2.5inch square minimum) for pixel quilts. Have any? Swap for? PM me! Smiley

hmm, I think the point I'm stuck at now is lots of piecing to do, in some cases I have all the blocks done and just need to be stitched together into a top.

I wish I would finish the 3 bed sized quilts I made in the 90's. I like the piecing part of making the quilts, but not the basting and quilting part at all! Now the fabrics are pretty dated so I have yet another excuse not to complete them. Everytime I see them in the ufo box I wince. How do you girls find the motivation to do the unfun part?

I'm with ya, Diesels_Mom, in that I totally hate the basting part! I've gotten over my hatred of the quilting part since I let myself decide I am only going to do straight line quilting and gave up on free-motion. I usually have to have a deadline to finish though...birth of a baby, swap deadline.

I only do straight line quilting anymore...and I use spray basting...and I sew the binding on by machine...I play little games with myself:  get something done I am not too wild about, then do something fun...just not having the burden of old projects laying around has freed up a lot of my time fretting over stuff...

I also basically gave up on my old, dated finished tops...I am going to turn parts of them into bags or pillows and donate the rest to the quilt guild...they sell them to raise money for various charities...people buy them to finish or make things...

Ha, those are the things I do too, we are like lazy sisters! Donating your old tops you aren't going to finish is great!
