crap--forgot to say how much I love your batik pillow cover fiddle!!  I adore batiks and so does my niece!

She did not go crazy over a yo-yo pillow I made for her nursery, so I think I will make her a batik one instead...I have all the right colors(she loves earth colors)...

Thanks, always!  It was fun to make.  I cannot believe I ever DID NOT like batiks - what was wrong with me?
I was so pleased with this pillow cover, I think I need one for me!!  I'll probably make me one just like it in a couple of weeks.  I'm finishing up the IYP swap stuff for my partner, susanab, first.

Also - you are moving right along on quilts - cannot wait to see that zig-zag quilt - I'll bet that one will be Great - are you making your own pattern, I presume?  I have lots of patterns, but I don't always use them.  I take ideas from other quilts I like, and try to figure out how I want mine to look.

Have a good day - Smiley  fiddlegirl8

I know indigo--she and I had a meet up recently and I took her to our local yarn shop where she is learning to knit!  She is a lovely young lady and I think that pillow will be a bright spot in her home!

Yeah--I tend to make up my own patterns...I love math and I love graph paper!  This year, I am trying to learn what certain basic patterns are called and also trying to learn more traditional blocks...but, like you, I just love fabrics and have to justify that love by making stuff! Cheesy

I know, right?!  If I could retire, I would sew all day long.  I love it that much.  But in order for me to keep buying fabric like a mad woman, I have to work to support my addiction  habit  shopping.   Smiley  That's okay, I am happy I have a job that I like.  Smiley

amalgam - Ditto what MareMare said.  I'm a list maker.  And the best part is marking things off my lists.  Good job on those quilts you finished.  I like the fabrics you used too.  Smiley

fiddlegirl - the batik pillow is really nice.  I'm sometimes afraid of mixing patterns/colors.  I like the patch - it ties the colors together nicely

I like the princess and the frog fabric Amalgam - I have some for napkins at my house Smiley

At last I have finished another quilt I've been dragging around in pieces forever. The craftster thread is here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=405909.0 and I blogged about it here: http://technicolorlilypond.wordpress.com/2012/03/20/the-adventure-of-my-mostly-recycled-flannel-quilt/ but here are some pictures.

So, yaaaaaay! Another quilt done. My list stands thus:

1. Wedding quilt for my friend, Abs (2 years overdue...    ) but only 13 blocks to go! only 9 blocks to go!
2. Recycled flannel shirt split rail quilt for my hubby (3 years overdue...   ), I've got half the top pieced and most all the fabrics cut out. It is queen size. <--Done!!Cheesy
3. Queen size quilt of all animal novelty fabrics. I have it mostly cut out. The pattern looks like this: http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/projects-ideas/bed-quilts/splashes-of-color_1.html, only I'm using black fat quarters to sash a small fussy-cut square of different animal novelty fabrics for the block.
4. I want to make this quilt pattern http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/projects-ideas/throws-wall-hangings/simple-sashing-rectangles_1.html using fabrics from Laura Gunn's Magnolia Lane collection of fabric. I have it mostly cut-out but I still have to cut out all the sashing strips.
5. & 6. I'm making this quilt http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/techniques/piecing/sew-easy_ss1.html for my parents and for my elder brother. Again, I have it cut out but I need to piece it. Sense a theme?
7. & 8. & 9. Quillows for my two grandmas-in-law and my grandparents
10. Wallhanging of Asian fabrics
11. My summer reading inspired wallhanging (I will try to post a sketch later)
12. A Doctor Who throw using fabrics I got from Spoonflower.com
13. A T-shirt quilt for me
14. A T-shirt quilt for my friend <--Done!!  Cheesy

I am making progress on the wedding quilt and I finally picked up the interfacing I need to finish my T-shirt quilt. I'm just booming right along. Smiley

Also, I am super impressed with everybody's quilts. They are all so lovely. That batik pillow is so pretty and, amalgam, your first three quilts are lovely. Smiley

What an inspirational story, froggirl02!!  Congrats on getting a quilt full of memories!

I can't believe you quilted such a huge quilt on your sewing machine!  What strength you have in those arms! Cheesy

Really, when you look at quilting's history, people used whatever cloth they could!  I love that you used so much of your own fabric from your beloved shirts!
