Catalina (my sister) was a bit tricky to find a Christmas present for. Freaking out about it, I stared at my calendar and counted the weeks before Christmas . And then it hit me. I was staring at my calendar, with paintings by Karen Gillis Taylor http://www.karengillistaylor.com/. I flipped back to September, I believe, and stared at my favorite painting from the calendar http://www.karengillistaylor.com/watertown.jpg. With felt I had had over the years, some old jeans I grew out of, and thin square pieces of wood, I made her this.
I cut up my jeans (for the sky) to cover up the one of the wood pieces and then hot glued it on. All of the felt was added with hot glue too. I added more detail with dimensional fabric paint. I painted the biggest of the pieces of wood purple and with some weird type of glue, that smelled like gasoline for about a day after it was applied, I glued the two pieces of wood together.

My sister got married in October and when she opened this, she turned to her husband and said, "Look! It's our first work of art for our house!" Cheesy

Beautiful! What a great "first" piece of art for a home.

I dream of a house covered with your art, and would love a personal swap. Pm me if you'd like to spread the crafty love! I also need blue fabric scraps for a scrap quilt!
