Definitely pull them both through together.  If the hook part of your main hook is exposed, I found it wouldn't pull through the loops and I'd have to start again.

I even put the second hook through the one loop on the main hook before starting to wrap... it made it easier to pull through.

I've still never tried it! I've been on a quilting and sewing kick lately, my hooks probably miss me!
