I made this amigurumi doll for a friend who is a fan of Arrietty, from the Miyazaki’s movie : the Borrowers (Karigurashi no Arrietty).
I used the indications from Free Spirit Amigurumi Doll Pattern http://byhookbyhand.blogspot.com/2009/07/one-of-things-ive-really-wanted-to-do.html .
I used :
- cotton yarn (n°5) and a B crochet
- paper for her eyes
- a peak for skewer painted with sliver paint, and a yellow pinhead glued on the top for the sword
- white and green flet for her belt + a small piece of cord
- brown felt for her boots

Arms and legs are flexible. She’s about 20 cm high.

Thanks for watching  Smiley

I loved those books when I was young!  And how did I not know that Miyazaki was making a movie from them?  Double love!  And your ami would be cute even if she didn't have such an amazing pedigree, so to speak.

Scholars and artists...differ most importantly in the way their knowledge is come by.  Scholars get theirs with conscientious thoroughness along projected lines of logic; poets...stick to nothing deliberately, but let what will stick to them like burrs where they walk in the fields.

I didn't know Miyazaki was/had made a version of the Borrowers either, I'm going go and look that up now! I love your ami! Smiley

She's lovely! You've given her a great expression, and her accessories are cool.

thank you everyone for your nice comments
here is a picture from the anime :

the movie was released in theaters in France in January 2011.
You can find some info here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_World_of_Arrietty
I hope you will enjoy this movie, it's very poetic.
I haven't read the book, so I can't tell you if the movie is very faithful to the book.

Beautiful Arriety.  She is just how I imagined her when I read the Borrowers as a child.  You have done a lovely piece of work.
