This was a Christmas gift to my best friend's 2.5 year old daughter. She named her 'Wendy!'

I used black foam, with acrylic paint to paint her eyes. And some nice brown wool for her hair.

The body and dress are made out of Eco-cotton, reused cotton - I think it's from Red Heart?

The straps ended up being a little long, but that's okay. Because I hear Wendy likes to go naked. LOL

Sorry, I should also add that the pattern comes from Whimsical Little Knits by Ysolda. Great pattern, really easy to understand and there were other beautiful patterns in the small book, too. I will probably borrow it from the Library again!

I HAD to respond! My name is Wendy too, actually Wendie: in Dutch we use the "ie" instead of an "Y" so my parents made my name Dutch. (sorry, long story)

But anyway, I love your doll. She is knitted so beautifully, love her face and hair. And I like her dress and shoes.

Your friends daughter is lucky! Well done and thanks for sharing. Smiley

That's awesome Wendiek! I never knew that the Dutch used "ie" instead of "y" for Wendy! XD My FIL is Dutch, and we just came back from Holland in September last year after staying with family for vacation! Interesting coincidences! <3

Thanks SiakelA!

The "ie" in Dutch is the same sound as the "y" in Wendy, but not all the Wendy's are spelled as Wendie, because we also use a lot of foreign words and names in our country. But my parents felt that Wendie was the Dutch way of spelling Wendy. But I end up saying to everyone that they spell my name the wrong way! So more people use Wendy than Wendie.
It is so funny that you were in the Netherlands! The world seams so much smaller! Haha! It is really funny and so strange, somehow connected!
