Fiber To Fashion Challenge (winter 2012)

Progress report:  I've got everything spun and a pattern picked out.  I need to dye it yet. I'm flying to go on vacation for a week, which would be lots of time to knit, but I'm afraid they will take my needles away at the airport.  Deadly weapons ya know.  So I hope that leaves me enough time to finish up when I get back.    

Even if I don't finish on time, at least this challenge encouraged me to spin for the first time. It was so fun learning and I could do it for hours.  The other night I figured I'd spin for 20 minutes before bed so I turned on an audio book at got to work.  When I looked at the clock, it was 3 hours later!

Yea that's what I'm saying too...at least this challenge inspired me to actually knit with my handspun!

I've never ever actually knit with my handspun before this!  I *should* be able to finish...

So...like last week, I realized I was going to need more fiber to finish this.  So I ordered more from knitpicks (I was using that cheap wool from there).  Well...it is backordered until May!!  I was really mad...so I grabbed some other fiber I had and tried dying it and spinning it but it turned out a much darker color...I guess because it was different fiber?  So...I got on raverly and found some nice ladies to send me 5 more knitpicks wool that I needed.   I just got the last 3 yesterday so...I'm back in business!

Now just to spin, dye (speaking of that I need more kool-aid), and knit.  I'm going on a road trip next week until the 12th...so I'll have to post my project when I get home from that (and hopefully finish it on the trip!).  I'm glad you gave us a week to post!

I had a pretty bad flu/fever the last 7 days but I'm better now so I can finish my piece by today or tomorrow!!

Ah, nothing in yet. I'll be able to post tomorrow, maybe it will break the ice. My dad is out of the country on business with my camera so I have nice pictures of the roving and the yarn before I plied... after plied and finished item will have crappy phone pictures (I don't have a fancy smart phone) and maybe I'll retake pictures of the finished item when he is back (Saturday).
