Help a new kid figure out this pattern, please?!

Okay so I've spent literally all day and night practising the basic stitches.. but now I'm stuck with what patterns are telling me to do.

I specifically search for a pattern branded super easy (found this on a blog where I was informed even the most beginner of beginners could do it!  ) but.. I'm really struggling. Would anyone be so kind as to dumb it down for me, please?

ALSO! Magic ring/circle for amigurumi? I've been trying for quite a while and just cannot get it.. any help? I can't watch videos on this laptop

Hi, where are you stuck at? for the first round you are doing 6 sc in the second sc. this will be the start of you making a round circle. i just place a piece of yarn as a stitch marker. that will let you know when you have reached the start of a new round. i always count my number of stitches at the end of each round just to make sure. i hope this helps. please post again if you have anymore problems. Also for the magic circle, you don't have to do it to make amigurumi's .i just use the chain 2 and sc in 2nd sc from hook method.   Happy crocheting and remember it will get easier.

I have crocheted for many years and have not used magic circle to begin, rather used "ch 2, sc in 2nd chain from hook."  If you keep your stitches loose, you can draw tight enough to avoid big hole at center start of your work.

Have you done other crochet?  Is amigurumi your first attempt at crochet?

There are many basics to crochet and following a pattern and interpreting the abbreviations in the directions that are common to all crochet methods.

If you are a beginner, find a site or a book that explains all the most elementary steps of crochet.

For Ami, you need to know single crochet (sc), single crochet increase, and single crochet decrease.

Most Amigurumi patterns are done in continuous circular rows, or spirals.  I use a small safety pin to mark the first stitch of each row. 

Spiral stitching is much harder to see and follow than straight rows one might use for a scarf (for example).


Take your time and follow the pattern exactly, counting stitches as you go.
Move your marker (safety pin) to the first stitch of each new row.

I think the pattern you have chosen is OK for a first project. You are starting with the spherical peas, which is a classic in Amigurumi. 

I looked over my pattern collection, and do not have another pattern to suggest to a beginner.

Amigurumi is very forgiving.

Every one who crochets will tell you that they have torn out rows and counted and recounted.
