Gingerbread Barn w/ animals

This year my fiance and I decided to make a gingerbread BARN from scratch. I have wanted to try out sculpting with marzipan, so we made the animals out of that. They are so cute! (If I don't say so myself.) Hope you enjoy. The pics didn't come out the greatest, but here they are.

I love those marzipan animals! Especially the chickens. I'll have to try sculpting with that sometime. Nice work. How did you make the cylindrical shape of the silo?

Glad you like! For the silo, we made about 20 circle cookies and stacked them. Then, we took a cheese grater and "sanded" the edges. We discovered this trick last year and it really works well! If the edges of the house get a bit warped in the baking process, just grate the edges flat so that all the pieces fit. Also, I forgot to mentioned that we made the shrubbery and trees out of a rice-crispies-like recipe. Instead of rice crispies, we used various "twig" cereals to achieve the right texture. Add green food coloring and a sprinkle of powered sugar, and there you go! I wish I had taken pictures of the process, but I didn't realize I would be posting here.

Never thought of "sanding" those warped places! And the shrubs look great. I just noticed the pig sty, which is simply adorable. Everything is so nicely done. Thank you for sharing those helpful tips. And the best of luck to you!
