Is it rude to try and swap for crafts I am no good at? What I mean, is I papercraft, is it rude to try and swap with, say knitters? Or do I look for other papercrafters to trade with?

I'm a Noob here, so my opinion probably isn't the norm.  I personally think that would be the point of wanting to swap.

doing a personal swap like this is grand - if you want to find someone who does a particular craft, look in the appropriate craft forum, and then negotiate what you both think is a reasonable swap.

For organised swaps, it would depend on the swap paramiters - if the swap was a journal related swap for instance, then your only going to get paper crafters, but the yarn v's fabrics swap then person A sews something for person B, who does something with yarn to send back (so spinning, dying, crochet etc)

Hope that helps Smiley

Thanks for the replies. Because there's a points system to swapping, I wasn't even sure there could be an even swap LOL. Say it takes me x amount of time to make 10 greeting cards... it must take ten times as much time to make a knitted item. And the materials would be different costs, even really expensive paper is no match for handspun yarn.
Of course, I have no intentions to send a single bookmark in exchange for a sweater, but the points, and estimated cost, are what seem to make a swap 'even or 'fair'. So I wanted to make sure I knew what is expected for when i can finally swap.

Not all the swaps use the point system, many of them use small/medium/large instead. Don't know if that helps you or not  Cheesy The Ongoing Wish List swap for example is to swap a 'medium' size, no points

The ongoing wish swap or pinterest swap would probably be good options. And I think I've seen a "yarnies vs papercrafters" swap.

There will always be swappers who can do what you want, but can't do your craft. I often wish for things I can't make myself.

You'll see many people swap, not just for the theme, but for things they cannot do. Smiley

Be sure to check out all the swaps, there are many that do not use the point system - it's not required. Smiley
