craftylittlemonkey - looking at a couple of the squares there, it seems like you embroidered them before your turned the edges down... id that right? would you recommend that?

No, I embroider and embellish afterwards. I hide all the knots under the turned over edge too so they aren't visible on the back. That's not necessary if they're made into a bag with a lining but I didn't want them to catch or anything or risk unraveling inside the wee pouches. And I'm fussy like that, I have a hard time making messy crafts and thought this one would encourage me but I managed to find ways to tidy it up anyhow. I have to figure out how to relax about that, the fraying etc is part of the charm and I can't quite get it right.

Here's a few of my pillows I have made. I like the different sizes.

This one was a pocket inside the bag.

This is cat I drew for my bag I'm making for myself.

This after I made a few extra things & quilted it.

Anyway just wanted to show, what I have done. Cheesy  I make mine all by hand, I like the look of quirkyness of it. I don't use the sewing machine when I make these. Thanks for looking.

Sharalee-
I love the cat idea! I see you mentioned that you don't use the sewing machine.. I am trying to picture what you do.. If that what you do. Cut two squares, and start doing the edges, and stuff with batting or whatever you use as you go along. I know some people prefer to embellishment the front first before or after the embellishment to show some of the puffiness from the batting.
On the Teesha Moore videos. She sewed the "poptarts" (as what you guys say, or pillows) all 4 corners on the sewing machine then she does the edges with colorful embroidery threads.
Care to explain? I feel stupid trying to explain my theory/ process of this! :-D

Those cats are AWESOME!

Sunshine, I've made some without the initial stitching for the pillow form. I started with 2 evenly cut pieces, folded over one side and whip stitched, then the next side, the third, stuffed and finished the last side. It took longer and was a challenge to get the edges flat the way I like but it worked out fine in the end.

Thanks for the idea. I was thinking of doing that anyways than taking out my sewing machine. Right now my desk is tooo small. Craft space is just limited, so forced to use my coffee table and it drives my fiance crazy.  Grin

These are all in the beginning stages of embroidery and embellishment. But I was trying to get all my ideas into the fabric so I can remember all of the things I want to try.

This one needs more embroidery between the alphabet.

More buttons.

Haven't decided what to do on this one yet and you can see how bad the corners are. My thought is that if I attach them to a background, like craftylittlemonkey, I can zigzag the heck out of them and make the corners a little better.

And here are 3 more. I did sew them on the machine first, and inserted a scrap of felt. I want flatter pieces, and I have tons of felt and fleece pieces. So if I can stay awake tonight, I'll continue to work on these. As I'm stitching, I think of more ideas so I am dedicating a small blank book (that I received from Santa in my stocking) and if I write them down so I don't have 20 poptarts started and no finished pieces.
