I made my own wedding dress!

The pattern is the Midnight Lace Dress by Doris Chan, published in the March 2008 issue of Crochet! magazine. I used an ivory/white worsted weight cotton, and it took me about two weeks. Instead of running the ribbon through the neck, I opted for more of a flapper look and wore it low on my hips. (It seemed to give more shape that way.)

Thank you for letting me share!

That's beautiful, I would have never imagined it as a wedding dress, but it is just perfect for it.  I admire crochet so much because I'm terrible at it.

And..., how many people can say they actually made their own wedding dress?!?!

Thanks, everyone! We wanted a low-key, DIY wedding, so making my own dress seemed the obvious choice!

P.S. When I told people I was making my own dress, they asked if I'd be making my husband's tux. Guess that's my project for when we renew our vows.

Thanks for your compliments, everyone! Craftrica, it took me about two weeks to do. After working the shoulders and armholes, it's done entirely in one piece, so it goes pretty fast. (I had some difficulty finding a length I likedat first the dress dropped down to mid-calf, which was not flattering. So I frogged it to the waist and redid it. Much better!)

Holy cow! That's so great. Before I even read that it was your wedding dress, my first thought was that it'd be perfect for just that!

Nikschaf, that was my thought! I am going to get different slips to wear underneath to give it some colormaybe a burgundy or navy blue.

Stop being so damned positive. Staring at the sun only blinds some one. By only looking at the positive, you miss an entire beautiful world of shadows and colors. Don't be overly negative, be realistic. The world is so much more complex and beautiful that way.

That is incredibly beautiful and very exciting.

My big wedding project is to crochet my bouquet.

It's nice to find crochet popping up at more and more weddings.

This is beautiful! I really like the ribbon low on the waist, it seems to give it a very different look than the original pattern. I've been itching to make this myself since I saw it in the magazine.... your is so awesome, it inspires me to give it a go! Cheesy
