My step daughter wanted a Dino dress fro xmas. We pick up the dark dino fabric at Hobby Lobby (picked up 5 yards, but used only 2 yards). I used the Simplicity pattern 2231 because it has no zippers and she can dress herself. I did adjust the pattern to be longer. Michelle is very lanky and if she bent over you can see princess undies. I added about 5 inches to the end. She loves the dress and now wants pjs to match! please ignore the mess, I do sew on the floor.
Total cost: about $10 for fabric, pattern and elastic

Ahh that is so cute! She looks totally happy with it as well!

I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

i love sewing on the floor cause I have no room for it anywhere else  (dont end have a dining room table) and it gives me a reason to kick everyone out of the living room and hog the TV.
I was a bit worried when she asked for a dino dress cause it was so unusual and I wanted to find a pattern that wasnt too baby or boy.

Both of my girls have always been obsessed with dinosaurs, and they haven't been around very many boys to be influenced. Come to think of it, any boys they have been around don't even care about dinosaurs. I may have to make my little one some dino clothes for kindergarten next year.

You did a great job!

That's very cute - and she looks thrilled with it, so it's all worth it just for that, eh?  I love it when I make something that my kids love.  Makes all my time getting acquainted with my seam ripper seem somehow worth it!   Grin

So cute.  I love the pattern you chose and the fabric looks great.

The world needs more dino dresses.

Sometimes you get to change the world, and other times the world changes you.

Currently drowning in the sea called PhD.

Very cute! I have quite a bit of dino fabric right now. My oldest son is obsessed with dinosuars.
