Big Project Stitch A-long 2012

Ok.   I'm game for this.   This here is the next project that I have decided to work on.  It looks kind of like a "blue willow" pattern.  I'm going to be stitching it on 28 ct. white Monaco, over two threads.   The final piece measures about 11x11.  I have never worked on something like this before...think the highest count I have ever stitched on was 22 ct. aida.  Plus, this has quite a few specialty stitches I have never even heard of!  I'll post pics of progress...but for now all I have is a photo of the final product.  It is in the March issue of Cross Stitch and Needlework magazine.

Oh wow, can't wait to see progress pictures!

I have about an hours worth of work to finish the next page on my project (well, I hope it's just an hour.)  It's the fiddly last little bit, you know like 2 or 3 stitches of many different colors spread all around the page, that's why I say I 'hope' it's just an hour.  But at least I see the end of this page in sight.  I think this one page alone is probably the largest thing I have stitched in many years!

I'm going to jump in to keep myself accountable here. I want to finish this project and frame it before I've lived at my new place a year. Already been four months so...ya Here's the project and how far I've gotten

I did it, I finished page 3!!

at this point it measures 6" x 11"

Page 4 is fairly small so hopefully it won't take too long to finish.

Here it is 12 hours later and I'm done page 4 (no it didn't take me that long to finish  )  I think I only spent 3 hours on this part.

                 


Now I start the bottom 1/2 of the picture, another 4 pages....

First progress shot of my Blue Willow piece.   I started on Wednesday morning and this is after about 3 hours of stitching over the past couple of days.  I feel like I'm moving slower than usual, maybe I am.   This thing has TONS of quarter stitches and the chart gets hard to see at times. lol.

Since Snow White kind of went bad and I'm not in any hurry to pick it back up, I'm going to go to the craft store and pick up a different kit.

Gomerriffic-- I'm a little concerned you didn't leave enough space around the outside for framing-- You will loose a bit of the outside edge when you put it into a frame.

Sorry Amigurl-- I went thru that with my dragon. I thought I missed 2 rows. I had just forgot to mark off my stitches. I didn't start any new huge projects tho..just worked on smaller projects. I dislike UFO's. I would just work around it stitching it normally.

I will have an update soon-- just haven't been in the stitchy mood.

Indeed I noticed that mistake too late for my original plan. I've come up with a back up plan or two to mount it a bit differently utilizing the raw edges or using a velvet fabric to carefully stitch to the edge and extend it.  If it works out, it should look fabulous! LOL
