I've just doing mosaic work and like working in 3-D. I've started making skulls for the Day Of the Dead. This is one of my first batch of 6.
Nekomimi means cat ears in Japanese.

Like that you used an assortment of tesserae. Thanks also for giving the definition of nekomimi. Smiley

It's a plaster skull I cast myself. I used a plastic Halloween skull to make a mold. The mold is kinda wonky. It was my first one. I used a home made mix of silicon caulk, corn starch and mineral spirits. Each skull comes out a little different, I make changes to it before it is full cured. This is the first one I added ears to, I'm currently working on one with horns. The ears I shaped from the same plaster around a piece of wire to attach to the skull, then add more plaster to shape the transition.
I appreciate your feedback. This project was born out of "what can I make with these different materials in the garage"
I have made 7 so far, and mosaics could be my new addiction!

Because I am not a "mosaic artist", I make up stuff, and use a lot of things that are just laying around. It suits my eclectic nature.
