Just wanted to show off the Poppet couple I made for my partner in the Mini 12 days of Christmas swap.  She asked for a hippy couple and here's what I came up with.  These were my 1st poppets and I had lots of fun with them.  Especially dressing them and figuring out the hair.

The couple together...

The girl...she just had to have a rainbow patchwork skirt and a cute top to show off her cleavage.

It took me the longest time to figure out how to make this boy's dreadlocks.  I love how they turned out.

WoNDERFUL job. They turned out great. Can't believe they are your 1st ones. wow. Poppets still intimidate me. But I have everything to make one except the confidence.

The dreads are locks of raw sheep wool.  The ends were already naturally bleached like that from the sun.  I just twisted each lock, felting them a little bit, and then wrapped them with sewing thread to help hold the shape and stitched each lock down to his head.

They were my 1st poppets but I've been sewing for ages and have made lots of other dolls and stuffed toys so it really wasn't that much of a challenge for me.  I had fun trying some new things with these two though...like the hair, adding eyelids and using fake eyelashes, and giving the girl cleavage.
