I have a question, is it stash or hoard if you have something that you think you could use to make something, but don't want to use it, because then you won't have it anymore?

I have been going through some of my random "packaging" stash, so-named for the bubblewrap, foam pellets and small boxes. I have boxes from modems etc that I think would make nice gift boxes, but I've been putting off using them cos I think I'll need them for something more perfect as soon as they're gone. That being said, I have a few fabrics like that too...

Please tell me I'm sane....

Looking for teal/turquoise/aqua, grey and white (or a combo) fabric for a quilt.

Well if you're not sane than I'm not either. I made a resolution: no saving for best; and it's helping, it is, even if I don't always follow it.

I just busted out some of my precious findings for a project I'm going to be sending away. That's a hard thing to do but I think I'm resolved not to save best stuff either. What's the point of spending money on it and having to store it if it never gets made into anything good? What a waste.

Oh yes, love the shrine Ysmeine, very nice!

That is not insane at all, But it is hard to get rid of stash if you dont use the stash.

I have learned from experience that if I put off things until I find the "perfect" use, I NEVER end up using them. And I also know from experience that when I've gone ahead and used something I was saving, I've never gone back and regretted it afterwards. This year I've been really trying to keep myself from saving things until I find the "perfect" use for them, and I've actually managed to use up a good bit of my stash. But that's just my 2 cents  Wink

Actually, I had to buy a lot of new fabric for a swap, because I didn't have the right kind, and I've ended up pulling a lot of the fabrics that I already had out to round out the items I'm making. So yay for unexpected stashbusting!

I have the "saving for best" problem too, especially with paper. I try to tell myself, "What if you die tomorrow? Then your husband will probably throw all of this lovely stuff away." I know it's morbid, but it helps sometimes. For some reason, I don't really have that problem with yarn, though. Odd. :/

what a lovely shrine!  I did not know you did altered art like that!  Will you be doing the other five crates as well?

great philosophy, CLM...I was hoarding an old family cuckoo clock and finally decided that someone else would really do something with it...

I also returned all of the flat rate mailing stuff I was hoarding in my garage...I realized I could just get them as I needed them at the post office down the street...

And, I am never going to use the hundreds of small jewelry gift boxes I have had for 20 years...oh, wait, yes I am...I am finally going to make an advent calendar for this Christmas! Cheesy

Brackish--my nephew point blank told me he would throw it all out!!  So I have been slowly sending stuff to people who can use it now...and putting instructions in my will! Cheesy

The shrinebox is super cool!

I'm hoping to work on a swap package this weekend which will involve some destashing (not a lot, but some)
