My younger sister gave me 7 pairs of tall skinny girl jeans today to "make something with". I'm a short fat girl so I wouldn't be able to wear them. I just need to decide what to make now...

Bananaleg - can you share the pattern for the red vine armwarmers?  I adore them!!

Agreed!  I don't knit well, but I'd figure it out to have a pair of those.

Ok--I need to know what pattern you used for the high tops!!!  They are just too cute!  I have already made cowboy boots but now I need to make tons of other baby booties!

I used this pattern by Teresa Richardson. She has a written pattern and a Youtube tutorial, which came in very handy because the booties start out with a foundation hdc and she shows exactly how to do that in the video. I'm really pleased with how they turned out, but I think next time I want to try these. They're a lot more complex and detailed, so I didn't have enough time to stitch them up before the baby shower.

bananaleg: Gah! Those wristwarmers look exactly like Red Vines! I adore them!

ysmeine: I love the scarflette/choker thingy (technical terms). It's so elegant. I bet you look fabulous with it on!

mellybelly: Awesome sleeping bag! It looks so comfy!

If you have no issues cutting them up you can make awesome patchwork things with them. Or cut the legs off and make a bag or basket

I just ruined a pair of jeans, too.  (The phrases "this day has been well and truly seized" and "wait, how did I kill another pair of pants" go together in my world)  I'm debating whether I should save them for future craftiness, or discard them.  The problem is, I don't usually craft with denim, but there's so much usable fabric there.  This is how stashes get out of hand...

I've made bags before,my everyday/everywhere bag is made from my old jeans much to the despair of my Mum, she's got me a new bag at Xmas for the past 3 years hoping I'll get rid of my denim one  Shocked I will one day - and replace with a new denim bag  Wink
Baskets could be useful. I'm not very good at patchwork,my seams never seem to match up.

ysmeine, those are so pretty.

mellybelly, the sleeping bag is adorable!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I'm going to try to write up a pattern for the Red Vines mitts soon.

I am making a quilt using denim for the back and scraps for the front--it is a long term project, but I am hoping to have it done by summer so we can use it for lawn concerts!

I am loosely using the tutorial by blondegirl...she made two that were wonderful!

I had to stop because, are you sitting?---I RAN OUT OF DENIM! Cheesy

I have at least a box worth of pants that I bought a long time ago to make a picnic blanket out of. I got two small ones made for my kids and then lost all desire to work with denim again. They were rag blankets and made a huge mess of my apartment and my machine as well as killed a few pair of scissors.

So if you want some denim, I could probably go dig some out of storage.
