Fireworks before liberty

I've been working with a lot of different mediums over the holidays, and I keep coming back to melting sh*t. Melting beads, old army men, plastic pen caps, and oh so many crayons. I had some oversized glitter crayons that I had been hoarding for "something" special and finally...while watching an old new years video for our upcoming trip to new york...i saw my glittery crayons in the fireworks going off over times square.



I cut out the statue of liberty in old newspaper, taped it down to the canvas so the shadow would show up, then I ran the glitter crayons through an old glue gun (and totally destroyed the gun, but I think it was worth it). Finally, I repainted the statue silhouette to clean up the edges a bit and sprayed it with sealer.

Wow!! This is amazing, drawing with melted crayons is such a good idea. How do you go about it? Just use a lighter! Either way this makes a great piece, hope you got it hanging up somewhere nice
