Duct Tape Rules!!!

« on: June 20, 2005 11:19:59 AM »

I have had a request from a friend to make him a "vintage" hat with a veil and fluffy feathers.  I thought it would be real easy.  Just get a Juliet cap form from the bridal section and go from there.

BUT I can not find a Juliet cap ANYWHERE!!!!   Angry

Does anybody know where I can find one without paying an arm and a leg?  Or how I could make my own form?  I thought about getting some double sided fusible interfacing but how would I shape it?

Thanks!

I have looked at Wal-Mart, Joanns, Hobby Lobby, and Garden Ridge.  Nobody has the caps.  It is all combs and tiaras!  I don't mind buying on-line as long as it is not too expensive.  That is why I was wondering if anyone had ever made one.  At this point I am even considering paper mache!

Would any of these hat frames work for you?

If you scroll down, you'll see some near the bottom of the page that aren't too pricey.

Good luck!

if he just wants a vintage hat he can probably find them pretty cheap on ebay. I got a vintage black pill box hat complete with mesh veil for 13 bucks... not to shabby.

Now the wintertime is coming,
The windows are filled with frost.
I went to tell everybody,
But I could not get across.
Well, I wanna be your lover, baby,
I don't wanna be your boss.
Don't say I never warned you
When your train gets lost.

Patti:  Thank you.  That is a great site.  I am getting some ideas for other hats just looking at what they have!

Dirt:  I suggested that but he has a very specific idea in his mind of what he wants.  And you know how that works...you can never find what you want when you are looking for it!

Thanks for the site, Patti. I don't know about Marypoppins, but I think I found the one I needed!  Grin
